Seeking joy in the mundane moments of life.

My Journey to Today
I have spent two years as the In-School Detention Instructor at our local high school. It is one of the most rewarding and challenging jobs I have had. I am not sure I can explain how I am here. I started in January 2022. One thing I do know, I love working with teenagers. Whether at school, church or just being a sounding board for my kid's friends. I spend my days with kids who tend to break the rules they believe are pointless. If they are behind on any assignments, I help them get caught up so they can be successful in the classroom. I talk to them about the choices that led them to ISD. It is a rewarding but daunting job.
Before taking this job, I spent five years as a secretary/legal assistant for an attorney in my hometown. The firm is small and mainly focused on real estate transactions, title searches, foreclosures, preparation of deeds, collections, and estates.
In the past, I have been a small business owner of a local fitness center. This job allowed me to develop valuable skills when dealing with the public, learn to promote a business, work with community members, and sustain clientele. I have also worked as a secretary for a finance company and a heating and air conditioning company. The job that challenged me and changed me the most was working at Family & Children Services for the State of Mississippi. I worked closely with foster children and their families to reunify the family unit.
Each job has taught me valuable life lessons and was a great learning experience. These jobs helped form the woman I am today.
