Assignment Summary
Found Document Analysis and Design Glossary
Working on the Found Document Analysis was the first project in this class. It was very informative and eye-opening learning the basics behind designing a document. From changing a font, grouping sections closer together, using color to direct the readers eye, along with streamlining the design and tying it into the company logo and colors can make all the difference in the appearance of a document. With only a few adjustments a one-page document can go from being a basic piece of paper with little meaning to a document that engages the reader upon first sight. Any one of these changes might not make a document noticed but when you bring all the aspects together it makes for a great document. The minor and major assignments were the most informative, showing how simple changes can make your document more noticeable.
The Design Glossary was difficult in the beginning as I was not familiar with Adobe InDesign prior to this class. It took a lot of trial and error then more trial and error before I was finally able to grasp the concept of the InDesign program. Working on this project, once I had an idea of how to use the program made the designing process fun. I was extremely proud of this assignment because it was the first one, I completed in the program. I was intimated by the Adobe InDesign in the beginning but the more I worked with it the more comfortable I became with the different functions. It is a program that works best when used often.
The projects required in the first session were great assignments laying the groundwork for a better understanding of the fundamentals of designing a document.
